Tomatoes contain lycopene, which studies have shown helps prevent cataracts, macular degeneration, prostate, colon, breast and lung cancer. Cooked tomatoes provide higher levels of beneficial antioxidants as the body absorbs them better.
Other sources rich in antioxidants include red grapes, spinach, tea, carrots, beans, apples, nuts, cinnamon, oregano, garlic, soy and whole grains.
